The argument…
It’s not what you think….
heres the short version
Punch Line: an argument ended with someone telling me to “fuck off and die, you white arrogant hippy bitch” and while my blood was boiling, I thought… That’d be a great shirt….
For those who do not know me, I have been organizing figure drawing sessions since 2017. As both a model and an artist, I have always been a strong advocate for figure models and the important role they play in the creative process. In fact, a few artists have openly criticized my "Model Bill of Rights" over the years—a response I wear as something of a badge of honor.
I did not create the Model Bill of Rights because models were facing some widespread crisis or extraordinary injustice. I created it because I believed there were simple, meaningful ways we could do better. Models deserve professionalism, respect, clear communication, and fair treatment. The document was never about creating rules for the sake of rules; it was about encouraging a culture of appreciation and accountability within figure drawing communities. As artists working from the human form, we have a responsibility to foster environments where everyone involved feels valued, respected, and supported.
While hosting figure-drawing sessions at Free Range Brewery, there have been a few occasions when I was late paying the models. In most cases, the delay was only a matter of hours, though it once extended to a few days and, in another instance, a full week. These delays were never intentional; they resulted from human error, travel, user technical error, competing responsibilities, and moments when life simply became overwhelming.
One particular incident involved a model with whom I had worked many times before and with whom I believed I had built a foundation of mutual trust. After I was approximately six hours late issuing payment, a heated exchange followed. The situation escalated quickly and ended with “FUCK OFF AND DIE YOU WHITE ARROGANT HIPPY BITCH”
So now I’m making shirts and giving the profits to the figure models that work with me.
