This series of artwork is inspired by phrases that are violently positive, rather than making work and trying to come up with a title. Ms. Meikle worked back wards, keeping a phrase in mind while creating the piece.

HAPPINESS IS MY VENGEANCE

This series was inspired by a therapeutic book on sexual assault. A fellow survivor’s phrase, “Happiness will be my vengeance,” deeply resonated with me. It became a powerful mantra, guiding me through healing and self-expression, ultimately shaping the creation of this series as a testament to resilience and strength.

This series emerged from the toll of working with a toxic individual. I unconsciously painted the person I was becoming. Once I recognized the manipulation in our partnership, I reflected on this phrase—would I rather continue with this person or choose a path that truly honors my well-being?

This series embodies my artistic journey. While working on multiple paintings and searching for my signature style, it began as a study and evolved into the expression I’ve long envisioned. Through experimentation, I discovered what works and what doesn’t, shaping the creative path I’ve been striving to define.

NO BOUNDARIES, NO PEACE

Inspired by 'Set Boundaries, Find Peace' by Nedra Tawwab, this book offers valuable guidance on setting limits, asserting oneself, and improving self-esteem. I found it incredibly helpful in establishing boundaries, learning to say no, and fostering personal growth. Its insights have been instrumental in my journey toward self-empowerment.
