“Doodles” is a playful, experimental series created from scrap paper collected during Meikle’s painting classes. These sheets—originally used by students to clean brushes and brayers—are repurposed as the foundation for new works. Meikle responds to each piece by sketching spontaneous line drawings on the reverse side, then cutting directly along those lines, allowing accidental marks and traces of prior use to guide the final form.
This intuitive process transforms discarded materials into dynamic compositions, where chance and gesture play an active role in shaping the outcome.
Each “Doodle” cut-out is a one-of-a-kind work, and no prints are produced.
