During her MFA studies at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Ms. Meikle became determined to eliminate the paintbrush from her creative process. Seeking a more direct and physical relationship with her materials, she developed compositions through the interplay of modeling paste, pigment, and sheer kinetic energy. Rather than relying on traditional mark-making tools, the work emerges through movement, gesture, and an intuitive engagement with the surface.
The modeling paste rises from the panel, creating a dynamic three-dimensional relief that captures the force and rhythm of its application. Layers of texture and pigment interact to produce a sense of motion, transforming the artwork into both a visual and physical experience. The resulting compositions invite viewers to engage not only with color and form but also with the traces of action embedded within the material itself.
